This story is so people know the overview of what went on in the Browning family the last couple weeks...
Sydnee was born on Monday night at 10:11p.m. on April 30, 2012. Everything was good and Sydnee appeared to be healthy and strong and normal according to the doctors that looked her over. We went home from the hospital on Wednesday May 2, 2012 only to end up back in the hospital the following day. We were home for one day and Sydnee only had one messy diaper in 24 hours. Her temperature was low and she wasn't showing much interest in eating. I knew something wasn't right. Andrew and I both felt like we needed to take her to the ER and getting ready to go, she had an apnic episode where she stopped breathing for a minute and her lips started to turn blue. We rushed her to the hospital as fast as we could possibly go. When we arrived, they took her temperature rectally and it was 96.1! The doctor ordered a chest x-ray, did a spinal tap, a blood draw, and after poking her like 6 times, finally put an IV in her head. She was so traumatized! He decided that she needed to go to the NICU and turn the care over to Dr. Jenkins (the neonatologist). He then ordered everything you can imagine to be done to her to see what was going on. She had another chest x-ray, CT scan, retinal exam to look for fungus, EEG, echo of the heart, EKG, and more blood draws. Andrew and I were so emotional not knowing what was going on with our beautiful little girl. I have never had a rougher week emotionally than this one. After all the tests, the doctor concluded that she had a pneumonia with either a bacterial or viral bronchiolitis. We also found out she has a ventricular septal defect in her heart which we will have to follow up with the cardiologist about soon. They had her on oxygen (because her saturation levels would drop) as well as an IV with antibiotics. After spending two days in the NICU, Dr. Jenkins shipped us off to the pediatric floor to spend the remainder of our time there. The plan was to be in the hospital for 7 days to finish out the IV antibiotic cycle. She however still needed oxygen at night when she slept, so they held us another day. Hopefully, she is home for good now and we can start our life as a new family. Thanks for the prayers and to my amazing ward, family, and neighbors for their amazing support.

I'm glad all is well and all of you are back home. Being in the NICU for the first time can definetly be scary!! Believe me I've been there for both my kiddos especially with Jade. They definetly take very good care of you at EIRMC. I hope she continues to progress and your able to find out more with the cardiologist. Jade has been seeing the cardiologist since she's been born since her heart wasn't fully closed when she was born and her last VSD closed this past yr. Good luck with everything and she is one gorgeous little girl!!
How scary!!! you were so smart to listen to you mommy instincts and take her in! hope she continues to get better she is beautiful by the way! :)
